Getting Ready for the Big Trip

At 2am Friday morning, Rebekah and I will board a plane headed for Germany...then another headed to Charlotte, NC....then finally another headed to Roanoke, Virginia. We will arrive in Roanoke at 7pm Friday. A trip around the world in one day! Actually, the entire trip is about 28 hours from start to finish, but we gain 10 1/2 hours on the way.

Now that Rebekah is crawling all over the place, she doesn't usually enjoy just sitting still. Pray that she will do well on the long flights with nowhere to go (and pray for stamina for her mom too)!

We haven't had a chance to post many pictures lately, so here is one last installment of Rebekah shots before the big trip.

I'm helping Mommy pack for our trip!

Mommy gave me a sticker to entertain me while she packs

Ok, Mom, could you put the camera down and help me out? I can't get this sticker off my hand!

See what an angel I am?!

Oh boy...that is going to be a long trip for the two of you. We will be praying. I can imagine how much Nathan is going to miss the two of you!

I will definitely try to remember to pray for you on Friday. What a long trip that is going to be. I would tell you to try the night time cold medicine so she would sleep more, but it didn't work for Kayla...

I just stopped now and prayed that you wouldn't have a full flight so you could have an empty seat next to you and that Rebekah would sleep well on the plane and that you would be able to remain sane despite tiredness. I flew with Kayla (domestic flight so nothing like what you're doing) without Dan when Kayla was Rebekah's age, and I remember that it helped that she was nursing because although I never nursed her to sleep and that wasn't her routine, it settled her enough in her exhaustion to put her to sleep on that trip. I brought a blanket and two safety pins and pinned it up on the seat in front of me and my own seat beside my head so we had our own little curtain between us and the person beside us. Kayla was so distracted by everything going on around us, but that helped a little because she couldn't see anybody.

Not that you need my advice. You have had your own share of experience and in the international world too so I know that you know what to do -- it's just the things that are out of your control that are difficult.

I know you will miss Nathan, but I am glad you will be able to see family in the States. Bitter sweet times... Hang in there!

Rebekah is still absolutely adorable!! I giggle every time I see a picture of her because she is just too cute! I will be thinking about you on Friday and I will pray! How long are you going to be in the States?

Annie,
We'll be in the States for just under 3 weeks. We fly back here on June 13th. It's a quick trip because we're only there to get Rebekah's visa.
