When will I stop posting monthly updates on Rebekah's growth and achievements? Well, that may depend on when she stops learning so many new things each month. I had planned on only posting these monthly updates until she was a year old. But now she's 13 months old and she is doing so many new things each month that (for the sake of family and friends in the States who want to know) I decided to keep posting for awhile.Let's see.... here are some of Rebekah's newfound abilities this past month:
She has added "eat," and "cup" to her sign language vocabulary, and she will nod her head for "yes" and shake her head for "no." She will also let us know in sign language whether she is "all done" with her food or wants "more."
Speaking of eating, she eats a TON these days! She is completely weaned now, and seems to like Indian cow's milk even though it has a much stronger taste than American cow's milk. An example of Rebekah's voracious appetite would be her supper the other night. Within about an hour she ate an entire peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a bowl of watermelon, a bowl of papaya, drank 6oz of milk, and then topped it all off with some puffed rice. Her stomach looked about as full as I've ever seen it! Then just this morning she had FOUR pancakes for breakfast. Granted, they were small pancakes, but still.
She discovered last week that she can put smaller objects inside larger ones. She was pretty excited about that discovery, and took great pride in demonstrating her ability to Daddy.
She's starting to color....well, scribble. I'm very thankful for a wonderful little cleaning agent called "Axion" that takes stray crayon marks off of my table and Rebekah's high chair. =)
She says "thank you" (day - doo) and "there" (daow) pretty well. She is also trying to say "book," "dog," and several other words as well. I'm convinced that most of Rebekah's jabber is intended to be real words. Unfortunately, we can't understand most of it yet. Sign language is a wonderful thing.
Rebekah will clean up her toys with a little help (yay!).
She will identify nose, mouth, and eyes on other people. She won't point to her own, but if you ask her where her nose is, she'll wrinkle it up. If you ask about her mouth, she'll open it wide and stick out her tongue. If you ask where her eyes are, she'll scrunch them shut. We have such a silly girl.
She's getting pretty good at running. The aisle at church is pretty steep (MUCH steeper than most church aisles), and she was running down it Sunday. I was right in front of her to catch her if she fell, but she kept on trucking!
If you ask Rebekah what a bunny does, she'll wrinkle up her nose like a bunny and laugh. If you ask what a fish does, she'll smack her lips together like a fish.
She LOVES being chased around the house. She has this deep belly laugh when she gets really tickled, and it's SO cute (if I do say so). =)

A kiss for Mommy

What a cute little girl...and smart too! Wish we could see her. With her appetite being what it is, it reminds me of an old ad jingle that went "She's a growing girl...look how she's shooting up; She's a growing girl...her clothes are just not keeping up!" Guess that will be true of our little Rebekah too! Love you Beka......Huggggg!
Yes, don't stop with these updates! Grandma loves them!
