20 Months Old!

We're getting VERY close to having a 2-year-old. In fact, sometimes it seems like we already do! She is slightly small for her age, but you hardly notice because she tries to act so grown up. She is silly and fun-loving, but she has definitely left her babyhood behind her.Rebekah has begun talking even more over the past month. She seems to remember EVERYthing we tell her, and adds those words to her rapidly growing vocabulary. She is speaking to us in phrases now, and sometimes short sentences. Her words are getting much clearer as well - now people outside the family can finally understand a lot of what she says. =)It has been nice to see Rebekah become a bit more wary of strangers than she used to be. A few months ago, she would talk to anyone and even GO to anyone - friend or stranger. Now she is still friendly to everyone, but if someone she doesn't know comes too close, she runs for Mommy. That is a bit of a relief! She definitely knows her friends though, and asks for various people daily.
Rebekah's current favorite activity is coloring, and she would keep Grandma Eileen busy coloring with for hours each day if possible! She also enjoys play-doh, pretending to take care of her babies, playing "ball," and reading (as always). She has even taken an interest in letters, and can identify about 6 different letters. There's a video of that in a previous post.
Below are a few photos of some of Rebekah's activities this past month...

Nathan strung his hammock up IN the house one day for Rebekah to play in. She loved it, and even decided to take her nap there too!

A few Saturdays ago, Nathan and Rebekah rearranged the living room furniture and covered it with a blanket to make a tent. This was Rebekah's reaction when she entered the tent for the first time:

One day, I was working in the kitchen and Rebekah kept asking me to come play with her in the living room. I told her that I would come as soon as I finished chopping the carrots. She sat on the couch fairly patiently looking at her books while I worked. She came to check on me a couple of times, and then things got very quiet. That is usually a bad sign, so I went to see what she had gotten into. This is what I found:

I have no explaination for this next one! This is just our nutty girl. =) She walked around the house for several minutes with the trash can over her head, laughing when she would bump into things.

It seems like it was just yesterday that she was 20 hours old!

So happy that she is being brought up by God fearing parents! We are praying for all of you.

Love the pictures! I know I've said this before, but she looks so full of life in them and so happy. She truly is growing up!

Rachel, thanks so much for your email several weeks back. It is still in my inbox because I want to email you back, but I figured while I was commenting, I may as well mention how much it meant to me to hear from someone who has been where I'm about to go.
