She began collecting rocks a few months ago at camp, and almost every time we are out for a walk, she will find another rock that catches her eye. She'll pick it up asking, "one more?"
Playing catch with Mommy
She's quite the funny little thing. As she adds more and more words to her vocabulary, we are daily amused by some of the things she comes up with. In Rebekah's language, a bathroom scale is called a "KG" because that's what she stands on to find out how many kilograms (or "kgs") she is. She is using longer and longer phrases these days, and is even starting to use a few prepositions. She doesn't usually say things in sentences yet, but she talks constantly when we are at home, so she is getting in plenty of practice. =)

Talking on the phone at the seminary
We are currently in the process of potty training. She is learning, albeit slowly. We are hoping that she will be mostly potty trained by the time the baby arrives, but we'll see if that works or not.
Riding her "horse"
Rebekah is still very fascinated with letters, and knows half of the alphabet. She notices letters EVERYwhere, and is always excited when she finds one she recognizes. Each letter she knows has a word attached - for example, if she sees the letter "R," she will excitedly say, "R, Bekah!" C is for cookie (thank you very much, Cookie Monster), S is for Uncle Sam (one of our co-workers here), I is for ice cream, D is for Daddy, W is for walrus, B is for baby, and the list goes on.
"R for Rebekah" - Rebekah draws this character constantly, and insists that it's the letter R!
She has also started enjoying songs more and more lately. She has always loved music - even BEFORE she was born - but now she's really starting to participate. She doesn't always sing along with songs, but she has learned the motions to many of her favorite Sunday School songs, and is always thrilled when she has the opportunity to demonstrate them. Her favorite song seems to change weekly, if not daily, but some of the current favorites are: The Wise Man and the Foolish Man, The Lord's Army, It's Bubbling, Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam, Deep and Wide, Only a Boy Named David, and Jesus Loves Me. I got a video the other day of her doing the motions for The Lord's Army and Only a Boy Named David, so I'll try to get that posted soon!
Reading with Aunty Velina
Rebekah didn't care much about colors until just recently. Now, however, she knows almost all of the main colors, and notices them everywhere. I sometimes have to restrain her from walking up to total strangers, poking them in the stomach, and saying, "blue shirt!"

Rebekah still loves to color, and even more so since her Aunty Jeannette (Nathan's sister) sent her some sidewalk chalk. There isn't really anyplace she can play outside, but with the sidewalk chalk she can color in our little carport area. She has a blast!

Rebekah has also really gotten into various characters - cartoon and otherwise. Grover, Dora the Explorer, and Curious George are the current favorites. She loves reading about them, watching their videos, and coloring their coloring pages. Thank goodness for the internet where I can download tons of coloring pages on just about anything that interests her at the moment!

Rebekah has also taken a liking to football (soccer). Her Daddy plays football with the seminary and local guys 3-4 times a week, so she thinks it must be pretty cool. =) Nathan bought her a little soccer ball, and she has a great time kicking it around with Daddy.
Playing football with Daddy
She has quite the personality about her, and we are enjoying her in spite of the occasional fits of temper that come with her age (or is it her hair?!). She loves helping around the house and doing as much as she can, "By myself!" Sometimes when we are trying to help her with something (usually her food), she will say "Bekah help you?" Which means that she wants to do it herself. She still loves reading, and is enjoying longer and longer books. That's nice for us because that means it's not as often that she wants us to read the same five-page book seven times in a row. =) It's hard to believe that she is nearly two....but then it also seems like she's always been with us. We are very thankful for our busy little girl!

aaawwww- what a cutie...
glad she enjoys the chalk!
I think she is getting into calligraphy already, hence the stylized "r" :)
What a beautiful blog story of our little 22 year old! We loved it! Hard to say which one is our favorite...but I guess the one where she goes up to stranges to poke them to say "blue shirt" REALLY wins the grand prize! :)
She is getting so big! What a precious little girl. I love the photos - they are fantastic :)
