The reasonings of a 2-year-old

We have been traveling constantly over the past several weeks, and although the kids are pretty good sports about it, they definitely get tired of all the travel after awhile. This past Friday we made it back to my parents’ house for an overnight visit before continuing on to speak at a supporting church over the weekend. We decided to let Rebekah have a little down-time and stay with her grandparents instead of coming with us. It turned out to be a good decision as she had a blast and was glad not to have to “perform” for a bunch of people she didn’t know.

The following are a couple of conversations that transpired between Rebekah and Grandma while she was staying with them.

Rebekah: I don’t need to obey Grandma and Grandpa because you don’t have a spoon (spanking spoon, that is).

Grandma: Actually we do have a spoon. Your Mommy and Daddy put it right beside your bed.

Rebekah: I think I will obey Grandma and Grandpa.

Later that day while getting ready for bed....

Rebekah: Sometimes I am afraid of the mean shark in my room. But you were singing that song before…. “When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” I could sing that, couldn’t I?

Grandma: Yes, you could sing that!
