It's time for another Hannah update already! She's becoming quite the big girl, and wants to make sure we know it. She seems to be of the opinion that it is her right, duty, and privilege to be wherever her siblings are, doing whatever they are doing. When I put her on the living room floor to play (surrounded by her own age-appropriate toys), she promptly slides and giggles herself across the room to Rebekah and Daniel's room. She loves to hang out with them and chew on
their toys. Matchbox cars and paper dolls just have so much more flavor than baby toys. =) Just today I found two of Daniel's plastic toys in the laundry. Hannah had slobbered all over them and Daniel wanted them washed before playing with them again. =)

Hannah is still content to slide her way around the house rather than crawl. It will be interesting to see if she changes her tune next month when we go to the States for a few weeks and she no longer has smooth floors to slide around on!

She's gotten to be quite the pro at sitting up just in the last couple of weeks. Just a week or two ago I had to sit behind her in case she fell (stone floors
really hurt when you fall straight back onto them!), but now she acts like she's been sitting up all her life. This morning I even saw her go from all fours to a sitting position for the first time. She really seems to be in a developmental growth spurt these days, and it is a lot of fun to watch.

Now that we have three young children of our own, we are learning first hand how easy it is to (or how hard it is NOT to) spoil the baby of the family. It's not that we intentionally give Hannah everything she wants, nor is it that she is extremely ornery and demanding. She's really a very happy and content baby most of the time (except when I'm washing dishes!). It's more that I (Rachel) don't usually have the time to deal with each situation as methodically as I did with our firstborn, so I sometimes just do what needs to be done to make Hannah happy so we can all go on with life. However, we have noticed recently that she can be playing perfectly happily until something happens that she doesn't like, and then you'd think that someone had just slapped her! Sometimes it's almost funny how quickly her "scream" switch can be turned on and off. We're working on harnessing her tiny temper though. For all of you more experienced parents out there, is there really much hope of having an unspoiled lastborn?

Hannah loves her food, and really is pretty happy with everything she's tried so far. Her favorites seem to be rice and vegetable baby cereal and baby crackers, but she eats her regular vegetables (carrots, squash, green beans, spinach) pretty quickly too. She seems to be teething again too, so she's more than ready to chomp down on whatever she can get her hands on - edible or not!

Below are some photos of Hannah (and Mom and Dad) on her first trip to the zoo this past month.

I'm the youngest and I wasn't spoiled! Ask Mom and Dad how they did it. (It may have something to do with the next older having a very strong sense of what is "fair"!) :)
She is such a cutie! Love the ponytail! :)
