Hannah at 11 Months

This past month was a rather slow one for Hannah. That was kind of nice for the rest of us, because life was pretty fast paced otherwise! She can walk halfway across a room now if she so chooses, but over the past couple of weeks she has preferred to stick with crawling. She will go from the floor to standing without holding on to anything, but if you ask her to walk to you, she'll sit back down. At this point it seems that her ability exceeds her confidence, but that will come in time. She does have this funny little crawl that she uses when she is carrying something - she'll crawl with one knee and the opposite foot on the ground, and one hand on the ground. I keep meaning to get a video or picture of it, but haven't yet.

One of her current favorite things to do is play peek-a-boo. She will put her hand(s) over her face and then throw them off with a big grin, and sometimes a "boo!" (sounds more like "vuh!") She'll do that for as long as there is a smiling face on the other side.
"Where's Hannah?"

"Boo!"

Hannah loves our new yard as much as her siblings do, but she is not thrilled about her feet touching the grass. The photo below shows her standing in the grass, but she was not about to walk in it. She just stood there clapping her hands and babbling at Nathan. =)

Hannah has been exploring the world of "real" food over the past couple of weeks, and is loving it. She had been getting a bit tired of vegetable mush, and looking eagerly at the more interesting delicacies on our plates. She finally decided it was worth giving in and using the sign language sign for "please" if it meant that she would get to enjoy some of that as well! So far she has loved pretty much everything we've given her (except for cold cooked carrots...but who can blame her there?) - even things that her sister and brother don't care much for. The favorite by far was chocolate cake!
She seemed to be going through a growth spurt a few weeks ago because she was eating so much, but she was weighed at the doctor's office, and is still slightly under 8kg/ 17lb. She was 7.5kg/16lb three months ago, but she seems healthy enough. Perhaps she's just loosing some of the baby fat now that she's become more mobile.

Hannah loves to be a part of things. It doesn't really matter what is going on or what people are doing, she just enjoys being with everyone and being in the middle of it all. Sometimes that means getting herself into trouble (especially since she hasn't quite decided to comply with the fact that "no" means "no"). But she's begun to enjoy books more, and will sometimes sit with us and listen to a story or two. She loves the cuddle time. =)

I know I always marvel over how time flies and how quickly our children grow, but it is really hard to believe that my tiny girl is almost a year old already! Time truly does fly... a constant reminder to me to cherish and make the most of each moment I have with the little ones God has blessed me with.
