18 Months!

Hannah in Negombo, Sri Lanka at 16 Months
Hannah is a year and a half old this month. Hard to believe! She is growing up very quickly right now, learning so many things. She is all too quickly beginning the transition from "baby" to "little girl." She's still our little pixie though. At just 10kg (22lb), she can still wear a few of her 6-9 month clothes, and 9-12 month clothes fit her best!

She's in such a fun language-explosion stage right now. She says LOTS of words, occasionally stringing a couple of them together such as "help please," or "Bekah, Daniel, come down!" She is quite the little mimic, and attempts to copy almost everything her siblings say or do. She's learning quite a lot that way!
Keeping warm on a chilly winter day

Hannah is also climbing everywhere. Just this past month she figured out how to climb out of her pack and play, and also into her booster seat at the table. If there's somewhere she wants to be, she figures out how to make it happen!
Note the stool beside the chair! Once she's in the chair,
she climbs over to her seat on the left.

Hannah can also be quite mischievous. She loves to pick on people, especially Daniel, whenever the opportunity arises. She is such a little ham!

Peekaboo! (See the mischief in that face?!)

Hannah is VERY stubborn and determined! Somehow (?!?!) we ended up with three strong willed children. Don't be fooled by the angelic little pixie face. =) Hannah makes her desires very clearly known! Now to work on the vocabulary so we can fully understand her desires, and the attitude so she can express her desires without throwing a fit....
Who, ME?!

It has just been in the past month that Hannah has really started enjoying books. For several months she would occasionally sit and look at books on her own, but would get very impatient if you tried to read one to her, wanting to flip through the pages much faster than you could read them! Now, however, she is a huge fan of books, especially Sandra Boynton books (which all toddlers seem to love). Barnyard Dance and Blue Hat Green Hat are currently her favorites. Daniel will "read" Blue Hat Green Hat to her, and they both just laugh and laugh!
Cuddling up with some good books

Hannah isn't interested in most of the movies her brother and sister enjoy (which really is good, but I'm sure that will change before too long!), but if I'm in a crunch and needing her to stay in one place so I can get some things done, there is one video that she LOVES and will sit through for quite awhile. Grandad and Grandma Waldock gave the kids a Psalty the Singing Songbook video for Christmas. Remember him? All three kids love it, but especially our two resident musicians: Daniel who is constantly singing something or other, and is quite good at singing on key, and Hannah who is very attuned to anything musical. She will even occasionally imitate various sounds, imitating the pitch exactly

"Dancing" (which usually means spinning in circles!) with Rebekah

Hannah loves to help, especially when someone else is working along side her - cleaning up toys, setting the table, organizing shoes, etc. When I am working in the kitchen, she will often come in, pull various plastic dishes out of the kids' dishes drawer and take them either to the table or to her siblings. She's always very proud of herself. =)
She couldn't find a stool, so she improvised!
This kid seriously knows how to get what she wants.
"Helping" herself to the freshly baked muffins

Hannah is also quite a little dare-devil. She seemingly knows no fear - the more dangerous it is, the more fun she has!
Headed down the slide - the faster the better!

She also loves to go for walks. If she even hears the word "walk" (in any context), she will run to retrieve her shoes and then bring them to us begging "Walk? Walk?! WALK?!!"
Taking a walk with Grandma Waldock

In December we took a weekend trip to Sri Lanka (Hannah's 4th country in her 1.5 years!), and Hannah got to see the beach for the first time. She was not at all impressed at first, but by the end of the second day she was loving it.
Attempting to keep her balance in the surf!
Enjoying the view (Actually this was before she got used to the sand on her feet and the water coming at her, so she was crying when I took this picture...but don't tell anyone!)

Checking out the airplanes with Daniel

18 months is such a fun age, and we are enjoying watching our sweet Hannah Supriyah learn and grow in so many ways. You can pray with us that we will train her well and that she will grow to be a godly young lady who loves and serves the Lord.
Miss Hannah

Loved this picture/text commentary on the life of 18-month old Hannah! You go, girl! You come from a long line of determined folks. With the Lord in the mix, you'll go far for His glory!

Loved reading this :) Hannah and Gabe seem similar in a lot of ways - he can also be very mischievous and stubborn/determined if he has a blocked goal. It must run in the family ;) She is adorable. We miss her!
