Faster than a Speeding Cockroach

Rebekah picks everything up off the floor. Everything. I'm sure that will come in handy when she gets old enough to clean up her toys, her room, the house, etc. For now though, it poses a problem at times. Rebekah seems to find great pleasure in finding the tiniest little things on the floor to pick up with her own tiny finger and thumb. If I'm not watching closely, those tiny things (and sometimes not-so-tiny things) will quickly find their way to her mouth.

We have quite a large family of cockroaches living with us right now. They seem to have claimed my kitchen as their home. We are in the process of evicting them, but in the meantime, Rebekah is having a great time with them. As soon as she spots a cockroach, the chase begins. She rushes over to the cockroach, and then squats there with her hand poised above it, waiting for just the right moment to strike. She makes her attack and almost never misses. Unfortunately. Of course, I don't always see what is happening until after the fact. Sometimes I don't even realize that Rebekah has found a cockroach until I see her chewing on something. Then I go fishing inside a little mouth and find the remains.... Ugh.

Nathan says that the cockroaches are good protein. I say that they are building up her immunity. Then again, I wouldn't mind her NOT having quite so much protein OR immunity!

Ha ha....that is a funny story. I know many Indian families share the same baby story as this. Cockroaches are full of protein...AND Rebekah is building her immunity....we agree on both counts! Can't believe she can actually catch one! RKW knows no fear! :) Atta girl!

So do we get to see a video... I know our girls would really get a kick out of that one.. they like bugs but only if they can catch them without touching them (stick etc) and place them in a bug catcher :)

I honestly don't know what I would do if I knew Kayla had touched a cockroach let alone put one in her mouth. I know I'm a wimp, and yes, God has called us to Africa. You are a trooper of a mama!
