A Year and a Half Old!

Rebekah is 18-months-old today. She is growing up so quickly! In the last couple of monthly updates, I've listed many of Rebekah's new words. I've given up on keeping track of it though, because she is just saying too many new words for me to keep up with! She is starting to combine words now, which is fun, and helps us know better what she is talking about. Some of her more common phrases are, "open door (meaning 'open the door'), eat breakfast, read story, up please, help please, baby cry (one of our neighbors has a baby that she hears crying occasionally), dog bark, water hot, cup empty."
She is also learning and understanding more and more abstract words. She uses words like, "empty, over (the cartoon is over), later (Grandma will come later)."

Reading with Grandma Waldock
In the past few weeks, Rebekah has become more interested in books than ever. For a few months, she didn't really wanted to be read to - she would just look at books on her own. Now, though, she will sit through several books in a row and then bring more to be read! The other day we made it through all of Green Eggs and Ham in one sitting, which is a first. =)

These days, Rebekah almost always has a book in her hands. In the photo below, she's even "reading" while she gets her diaper changed!

Rebekah LOVES going to the park. She could sit and swing for as long as we would stand and push her.Coloring has been a big hit too, recently. However, we are still trying to teach her that she can ONLY color on paper! That little desk of hers has gotten quite decorated....but thankfully I have a wonderful cleaning agent that takes crayon marks off of plastic easily. =)
